CHANGING FOR THE NEW YEAR

I am going to make my house a better place to live,
Not trying what to receive, but going to try to give.
Make my wife her breakfast, when morning comes around,
Pick up all my clothes, that I have thrown upon the ground.
Vacuum all the carpets and scrub the kitchen floor,
And try to remember to close all the cupboards doors.
I will try to do the cooking, and even bake a cake,
And a gourmet dinner I will try to make.
When I work in the yard and come in the door,
I will take my shoes off so I won't get mud on the floor.
I will turn down the TV and be quiet as a cat,
And tip toe around the house when you take your nap.
I will do the laundry and I know in time,
I will learn to hang them proper on the line.
I will iron all the clothes, all the wrinkles I will erase,
Fold them and put them in the drawers in their proper place.
I will clean the bathroom and when the time comes around,
I will learn to put the toilet seat down.
I know I am not perfect, and on paper this looks great,
So we will leave things as they are so I won't create,
A total mess in our routine, and I know you do just fine,
So I will still let you wait on me, and maybe in time,
These things will come to pass, this wonderful scheme,
Will only come true to you in some wild fantastic dream.
