CLYDE'S VOCATIONAL SCHOOL GRADUATES FIRST CLASS

Six students received an early holiday present Thursday, December 23. That's the day they graduated from Business Analysis & Training Center (BATC) stage in Clyde. It was a moment that BATC owner called "historical" because these students comprised the school's first graduating class.
Members of the class were Ritchie Cincinello of Sodus Point, Jason Wilson of Palmyra, Darryl Roedts of Newark, Mark Syron of Seneca Falls, Eric Crandall of Clifton Springs and Paul Peters of McDougall.
The students completed a 450-hour heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) course. The class, which began July 19, was taught Mondays through Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The graduates are now qualified for entry level positions with heating and air conditioning contractors. Roedts, Syron and Crandall have already started new jobs with Halco Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning in Phelps.
The students attended interactive seminar-style teaching sessions and received hands-on experience in a very well equipped lab. Additional hands-on experience was gained by performing pro bono work for area community groups. For example, they installed a new furnace in the home of a Clyde family who couldn't afford to replace their inoperable unit. St. John's Tracy Fund paid for the new furnace.
BATC, located at 30 Galens Street, is approved by Workforce Development and the office of Vocational Educational Service for Individuals With Disabilities (VESID). The phone number for registration information is 315-923-2282.
