Earl Symonds


      CLIFTON SPRINGS -Earl Symonds, 88, of Glenn View Drive, passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2005 at Clifton Springs Hospital.
      Friends called Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Patrick Funeral Home, in Clifton Springs where funeral services followed. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Little Church Cemetery in Hall.
      Friends may contribute to the Home for the Aged in Canandaigua.
      Earl was born July 30, 1916, in Penn Yan, the son of Sherwood and Clara Symonds and had lived in the area most of his life. He was employed by Seneca Foods as a truck driver for 45 years. Earl was an avid gardener and loved to read. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he adored.
      Earl is survived by his daughters, Carlene (Chris) Penner of Clifton Springs and Clara Ridley of Shortsville; two sisters, Helen Flynn of Penn Yan and Myrtle Eskildsen of Waterloo; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, on great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
      Earl was predeceased by his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Shirley; a son, John; and a son-in-law, Bill.


Margaret "Peg" Sloane

      NEWARK - Margaret "Peg" Sloane, 74, of East Maple Street, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
      Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 17 at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court in Newark. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva.
      Memorials in her name may be made to the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark, 14513.
      Mrs. Sloane was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Albany, the daughter of William and Dorothy Pelton Schofield. Peg graduated from the Rochester General School of Nursing in 1951. She worked as a registered nurse at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, and for many years at the Clifton Springs Hospital, retiring in 1995.
      She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, where she had been an elder and was involved with the Together in Christ organization.
      She is survived by her four sons, David (Sandy) of Lyons, Douglas, Ph.D. (Janis) of Hyattsville, Md., Gregg (Debra) of Newark and Gary of Hyannis, Mass.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hilda Scofield of Penn Yan.
      She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur in 1982; and a brother, George Scofield in 2004.
