4-H Public Presentations Held in Ontario County

If you ever wanted to know How to Paint a Wooden Stepping Stone or Learn How to Write a Good Mystery you should have attended the 2005 Ontario County 4-H Public Presentation Day that was held on Saturday, February 5 in Canandaigua. More than 125 4-Hers representing clubs from around Ontario County participated in the event annual. Youth ranging in age from 5-19 gave oral presentations to an evaluator and small audience on a topic of their choice. The presentations were given in the form of Demonstrations, Illustrated Talks, Dramatic Interpretation, Recitation and Impromptu Speaking.
The Public Presentation program is often cited as one of the 4-H Youth Development's most beneficial and rewarding opportunities. It is the one program most often credited by 4-H alumni as having given them an edge above peers in both college and professional careers. It provides a unique opportunity to develop a positive self-concept and poise, gain self-confidence before a group, learn to express ideas clearly, respond spontaneously to questions and gain subject matter knowledge. Through a progressive series of communication activities, youth learn to express them selves and ideas in the
      4-H Communication Arts program.
Selected to represent Ontario County 4-H at the District Presentation event to be held April 2 in Canandaigua were Olivia Lamphier and Meg Lamphier of Middlesex and Melissa Whipple and Shauna Kaisen of Victor doing Team Presentations.
