Poem of the Week
|
Coming of Spring
By Ralph J. Adams
I saw the sun come up today,
A brilliant cast of color across the snow.
The tree's were crystallized with gems of ice,
A painters picture to behold.
I know we have to face the weather,
The cold dark days with the bright,
But when the sun comes shining through,
It warms our hearts with delight.
I know God makes this contrast,
So we can appreciate and compare.
The warmth of the sun beating down on us,
And the breath of cold fresh air.
But, I do look for the coming of Spring,
When the crocus breaks through the ground,
To burst out with its petals, and say,
That the freshness and beauty of Spring,
Is only a couple of weeks away.
Now I hope that Spring will be coming soon,
And on my knees and heart I pray,
That the Groundhog does not see his shadow,
This February on Groundhogs' day.
MORNING SURPRISE
By Ralph J. Adams
The morning came up so warm and bright,
The sun with it's sparkling charm.
I jumped out of bed to welcome it,
With a whistle and outstretched arms.
My day was started without a worry or care,
So for my wife, a wonderful breakfast I would prepare.
I brewed some coffee, fried some eggs and bacon,
To let my wife know that she was not forsaken.
Then who should come down the open stair,
In her bathrobe, half-shut eyes and ruffled hair.
Me sitting at the table, lit candle and ready for romance,
I took another look and said, "not his morning, not a chance"
Now women in the morning, they just don't seem to care,
Until they primp and powder up, and tease their ruffled hair.
I contained my composure, which I knew was right,
And wondered how I married, this early morning sight.
Then she went to the mirror, like magic she put cream on
her face, Rubbed and rubbed until every wrinkle she did erase.
Touched up her eyebrows and make-up she did apply,
And there was a transformation of beauty before my eyes.
I know this outer beauty is great, I say with a grin,
But my wife's beauty is in her heart, her beauty is within.
