KOLB ANNOUNCES FOOD DRIVE By Assemblyman Brian M. Kolb
|
Assemblyman Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) announced today the beginning of his spring food drive as a way of highlighting New York's Hunger Awareness Day on March 17.
"I am so honored to have the opportunity to help those in our community who need it. I strongly encourage everyone to participate in this program and help those who are in need," Kolb commented.
Anyone wishing to participate may drop off non-perishable food items at Assemblyman Kolb's district office at 607 West Washington St., Geneva, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A drop-off point will also be available in Canandaigua at Gleaner's Soup Kitchen at St. John's Episcopal Church, 183 North Main St. Gleaner's is at the back entrance of St. John's in the basement; donations will be accepted there between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The drive runs from March 1-27.
Items collected during the drive will be donated to Gleaner's Soup Kitchen.
Kolb concluded, "The staff and volunteers at Gleaner's Soup Kitchen provide a wonderful and truly needed service to those among us who have fallen on hard times. It's not always easy or possible to procure the materials necessary, but items collected through this food drive will definitely help."
