Blurbs from various places:
Southern Tier got a Christmas present where the main employer is goin' overseas. National Chambers of Commerce say outsourcin' is a good thing? Tell people affected, who'll hafta get two jobs t'keep ends t'gether. Job loss doesn't affect one locality, covers wide areas.
Intelligence bill passin', wonder what skunk's in the woodpile there. We're havin' a tough time payin' govmint bill now, what's gonna happen when that bill comes due? Asides, if y'look close over the years, our intel people had their high points, but they've missed so much over the years. Turns out intel bill'll protect turf wars, especially in Congressional oversight committees.
Immigration din't get inta the intel bill, reason? Too many corporate people makin' money offa cheap labor. On the other hand we're s'portin' a welfare load gittin' worse each year! Main thrust aginst reform is VOTES. Figger there'll be an amnesty producin' guaranteed votes. No sense belaborin' reality, is there?
Discover's special issue had two articles, on statin' Meth users should be aware it increases brain size by ten percent or more. Doesn't translate inta bein' smarter, since meth destroys brain areas associated with memory. Another stated vaccines don't produce autism in kids, except it acknowledges have hard time convincin' parents. Too much folklore around it.
This time o'year many people get ahind the Christmas spirit, (except Target Stores) doin' things fer the poor. Christmas is fer kids, adults use it t'grab things they don't need from people who don't really care. BW tells a story of her younger years when a car got stuck in a snow bank near her home. They took the family in, fed 'em, gave 'em a place t'sleep till plows could free up their car. Those things happen on the back roads of our society, where people help people. There's people whose relatives in Iraq, they sendin' stuff over there, an' some people send beanie babies fer children. Y'ever stop t'think what a school-t'-school program would do fer the world, where our children would adopt a foreign school, sendin' needs like pencils, etc. t'help them larn, better'n what their bein' taught. Good deeds last longer in people's minds. Children helpin' children. Nah, wouldn't work, schools might think it isn't politically correct. Who'd pay fer transportation and distribution?
Didjer see this couple in Californy won 17 mil on the lottery, second time they played it. (Where's mine, ten years an' five free tickets!!!) They'd started an abandoned baby program years back, set up as a way fer mothers t'leave unwanted newborns in hospitals or fire stations. This couple weren't poor, sed they'd use the money fer somethin' good. Mebbe it's a reward, strange things happen fer strange reasons.
Slow time fer news, thought mebbe I stop hollerin' 'bout things that cain't be changed by common people. Get ready fer Christmas. Santa's brother Morris comes in January, sez, "Ho, Ho, Ho, where's the dough." 'Nuff sed!
