FLCC PRESENTS SPRING 2005 THEATRE PRODUCTION
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 17, 2005) - For its annual spring theatre production, the Finger Lakes Community College Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents "The Curate Shakespeare As You Like It," (Being the record of one company's attempt to perform the play by William Shakespeare) by Don Nigro.
The production will be held on Thursday, April 7, at 8 p.m. and will continue on Friday, April 8, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 9, at 2 and 8 p.m. in the John P. Socha Pavilion on FLCC's Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. Tickets will be available at the door before each performance. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Half price tickets will be available on March 28 at the FLCC Student Life Center.
The ensemble cast includes the following FLCC students:
Taylor Stevens Barth of Henrietta
Lorelei Canne of Clyde
Ashley Hyjek of Warsaw
Derrick Frenney of Canandaigua
Michael Pelych of Hornell
Greg Waite of Clifton Springs
Noel Wheeler of Dundee
When a company of Shakespearean actors is reduced to seven and forced to play all 20 plus roles in As You Like It, the company's manager, or curate, must encourage, chide, and plead with his cast to make it through the production. With many starts, stops, and blunders, this comedic production of Shakespeare's text reaffirms his notion that "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women, merely players."
