FLCC FINGER LAKES CONCERT BAND TO PERFORM APRIL 9
Finger Lakes Community College's Finger Lakes Concert Band will host a concert, "Spring Fling," on Saturday, April 9, at 8 p.m. at Canandaigua Academy, 435 East St., Canandaigua. Admission is free and open to the public.
Charles Van Buren, director, and Allen Lis, assistant director, will lead the Band in performances of John Philip Sousa's "Easter Monday on the White House Lawn," the third movement of a suite entitled "Tales of a Traveler"; Dmitri Shostakovich's "Folk Dances"; Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Selections from The Phantom of the Opera," arranged for band by Warren Barker; "Perpetuum Mobile" by Johann Strauss; Maurice Jarre's score for the film "Lawrence of Arabia"; "Psalm for Band" by Vincent Persichetti; Sousa's "King Cotton March";
Haydn Wood's "Mannin Veen," based on four Manx folk songs, including "The Good Old Way," "The Manx Fiddler," "Sweet Water in the Common," and "The Harvest of the Sea"; and "Under the Double Eagle" by J. F. Wagner.
