"WHEN YOUR CHILD STARTS SCHOOL"
|
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County is offering an informational packet, "When Your Child Starts School" to support and guide parents as their child begins the important transitional step to staring school.
When children enter kindergarten, they and their parents experience a critical life transition. The way both groups adapt influences their experiences with education for years to come. For the students, building confidence at an early age predicts future educational achievement. For parents, building partnerships with school personnel enriches children's learning environment and creates a successful learning atmosphere. Research indicates that children are far more likely to succeed in school when their parents support their school experiences.
The packet contains three fact sheets: "Off To A Good Beginning: Getting Ready For Kindergarten", "The World of the Five-Year Old", and "Becoming Part of Your Child's School". Also included are other related articles and a resource listing of materials available from Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Copies of the packet are available by stopping in the office or sending a $4.00 check made payable to Cooperative Extension with your name and address to: Kindergarten Packet, Cooperative Extension Center, 480 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424, phone 585-394-3977 Ext. 10.
