De Sales Student Receives Honorable Mention in the About Literature Contest
|
The New York Center for the Book, in conjunction with the Library of Congress Center for the Book, has chosen Samantha McNulty as one of the 101 Honorable Mention winners in the 2005 Letters About Literature Contest. This letter-writing contest was open to all students in grades 9-12 in New York State.
The student had to write a letter to his/her favorite author telling the author how his/her story inspired the student. Samantha, a freshman at DeSales High School, wrote to Guy De Maupassant about his short story, "The Necklace." A total of 1,220 letters were entered into the contest. Samantha's letter was commended as one that "showed imagination and expressive writing." Congratulations, Samantha!
