DeSales named "Poetry Achievement Honor School"
|
DeSales has been named "Poetry Achievement Honor School" for the number of students that have been selected to have their poems published after participating in a poetry contest. Earlier in the year DeSales reported that Ms. DeSain's English 9 class had 15 students whose poems had been accepted for publication in A CELEBRATION OF YOUNG POETS-FALL 2004.
Recently, DeSales was notified that Mrs. Beryl Tracey's 11th and 12th grade English classes also had 31 students whose poems have been accepted for publication in A CELEBRATION OF YOUNG POETS-FALL 2004 as well. Congratulations to the following students: Molly Arena, Andrew Armitage, Brian Augustus, Elizabeth Babiarz, Evan Baran, Laura Black, Casey Bouch, Joe Costello, Maya DeJohn, Mitch DeMeyer, Laura Evangelista, Lucas Gutschow, Samantha Hess, Kyle Jurjens, Peter Karski, Alex Laquitara, Peter Liberatore, Marissa Lorenzetti, Ashley Luna, Sam Mantell, Sarah Passalacqua, Haley Phillips, Dana Pulver, Ellen Quarmby, Morgan Reale, Emily Schillaci, Jasmine Staff, Jamie Taras, Krista Turnbull, Ryan VanDeventer and Gen Wandell. Dana Pulver was additionally honored by being selected as one of the Top Ten poets in the contest. Pulver will receive a $50.00 savings bond and a complimentary copy of the book.
DeSales would also like to congratulate Colleen Babiarz and Laura Mantelli whose essays have been selected for publication in the Creative Communications Anthology, an collection of the best student writing in the United States. Both students' essays are in contention for prize money to be announced at a later date.
