FLCC HOLDS SECOND DAY OF SHARING
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (March 31, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College will hold its second annual "Day of Sharing" April 21. A collaborative effort between the FLCC Student Life Office Volunteer Center and the FLCC Campus-Community Coalition, this event, similar to the United Way's "Day of Caring," is designed to bring FLCC students, faculty, staff, and the local community together and to offer some much-needed help to a variety of agencies and the people they serve.
Students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to volunteer throughout the community at more than 20 sites (up from 16 sites last year), from Gleaners Community Kitchen, to the Granger Homestead, to the South Bristol Cultural Center, and many more. Volunteers will work on projects from approximately 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a morning reception beforehand. This event will take place as part of FLCC's spring Activities Day, a day on which the College traditionally does not hold classes but rather encourages activities involving students and faculty outside the traditional classroom.
For more information on this event, contact Sarah Whiffen, FLCC director of student life and transition services, at (585) 394-3500, ext. 7263, or at whiffes@flcc.edu.
