CLYDE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL EXPANDS COURSE OFFERINGS

Business Analysis & Training Center (BATC) has expanded its course offerings, according to founder Darrin Rice. In addition to the 450-hour basic HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) course, the private vocational school has added NATE (North American Technical Excellence) certification, EPA refrigerant certification, HVAC apprentice training and Construction Essentials.
NATE, which is supported by all of the HVACR trade associations, had appointed BATC as an approved test site. NATE certification can be earned by HVACR service and installation technicians. Technicians have to pass a core exam on basic competencies and a specialty exam to be certified in that specialty. Specialty exams are offered in air conditioning, air distribution, gas heat, oil heat and heat pumps.
EPA refrigerant certification is needed for any technician who handles refrigerant. In fact, certification is necessary before a technician can even buy refrigerant. BATC has been approved by ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) and Penn State University to conduct certification training and examinations.
HVAC apprentice training for levels one through four are being offered by BATC in conjunction with Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and NATE.
BATC is also offering a 72.5-hour course in construction essentials. This is needed for NCCER national construction trade credentials in HVAC, heavy equipment operation, residential carpentry, residential electrical, plumbing and instrumentation.
