PHIL LOSSIFER

Nuances are m' constant companion in life, many times little things add or subtract from an event.
Many may have seen the white pigeons released by children with the Pope durin' his Easter appearance. They refused to fly away, one flew inside the room. The nuance? The Pope's days were few, as his appearance showed. Was these pigeons refusal to fly away an omen., or a nuance? Shortly after his death our blue grotto light went out. Did it mean anything? Were these coincidences?
His demise produced several miracles: Most of the world's leaders, includin' Russian Orthodox priests, attended. Jewish an' Arab leaders, side by side, shakin' hands one report stated. One wonders what conversations took place among friends an' enemies of the world leaders. The number of people standin' in the square, waitin' fer their moment t' view the Pope. There was no rancor, no violence. Different nationalities, many not understandin' each other's language or religious thought. The biggest miracle of all? No terrorist violence! Imagine consequences from a violent act with all those present. Largest miracle was his death brought the world t'gether for a few days, war t' background of news.
Media itself was a miracle, an' despite m' animosity toward them, their anchors did exceptional work. Perhaps the best was Aaron Brown of CNN, whose calm demeanor fitted in with the occasion. Fox's coverage din't rise t' the event, 'nuff sed there.
It din't stop people from condemnin' things they thought important, but it was lost in the chorus of others. It din't stop Bush from preventin' former Pres. Carter from goin', although it was glossed over. The nuance seemed t' be one who worked hardest for peace wasn't good enough t' be there as part of the US delegation.
His legacy will be praised, condemned an' discussed for years. Pres. Clinton was right in his statement about time changin' his importance. It seems no matter what's done by any individual, his conduct an' writin's are "evaluated" by experts unknowin' of true intent. Successors will be compared, viewed, an' there's those who'll elevate him to sainthood.
The world is returnin' t' it's mundane, day-to-day happenin's, where the event'll gradually fade into obscurity, fortunately. It was difficult t' watch Religious Right opines, although acknowledgin', reluctantly, viewpoints were close t' their own. Nuances showed a great man, havin' been fired in the kiln of history makin' an imprint on the world. No one has brought t'gether such difference of people into one place.
Meanwhile, back home, things return t' normal, politicians parade afore cameras, certifyin' their next election by ignorin' common people's needs. Thanks fer the break, our minds needed clearin'. Nuff sed.
