Poem of the Week
|
MISSED HER
By Ralph Adams
|
My wife went to a shower
Out of town today…
I thought that this would be a good time
To go out on the town to play
I went to a friend's house
My mind of golf to see
If he would be my partner
But he was out with his family
I tried to do some shopping
And on the computer play a solitaire game
Took a walk down the street.
But something didn't seem the same.
My wife was not beside me…
To talk and hold my hand…
The world seemed to be a void
This was not the day I planned.
I took a walk in the garden
Puttered here and there and tried to read
Cut the grass around the house
And pulled a few weeds.
Something was lacking and I could see
I was talking to the roses and talking to the trees.
I am not used to this emptiness
This time for me was not gay
But my wife was only gone from me
One little measly day.
When the day was over
And she came in the door
A smile exchanged and I was glad
And I told her of the wonderful day
That I just had.
