Ontario County 4-H Clothing and Textile Review
|
The Ontario County 4-H Clothing and Textile Review was held on Saturday, April 30 at the Farmington United Methodist Church. Sixty Ontario County 4-H members came in the morning and had their garment or sewing project evaluated by a volunteer judge. The annual review was held in the afternoon when the youth modeled their sewing projects for an audience of family, friends and 4-H leaders.
4-H members who participated ranged in age from 5-17. Projects shown to the audience ranged from doilies, pillows and purses to knitted scarves, shorts and shirts to Civil War, Celtic and Napoleon era dresses.
Members who participated in the parts of the event were members of the Best Buds Club and Clever Clovers 4-H Club in Honeoye, the Sonshine Kids Club from Canandaigua, The 4-H Fun Club members and Moonlight Maniacs from Victor. The Risser Rascals, the Cool Clovers, Teen Ambassadors and Christol Crafty Critters of Canandaigua all had members participate. Also participating were members from The Orleans Groovy Girls and Sci-Kids Club of Clifton Springs, Funny Bunny Bunch of Rushville and Castle Clovers of Seneca Castle.
Some of the Cloverbud members age 5-8, were recognized for their projects that day. Those given recognition for the Cloverbud Honor Roll were Rachel Snyder and Peter Van Houten of Honeoye, Megan Korpiel and Kody Miles of Canandaigua and Samantha Marshall of Bloomfield. 4-H members age 8-13, selected for the Junior Honor Roll were Jazzmine Lamb, Ethan Kennedy, Ben Korpiel, Allison Rich and Jennifer Iler of Canandaigua, Jeni Wilson of Seneca Castle, Taylor Szczypinski of Waterloo, Melissa Mason, Melissa Shively and Luke Shively of Victor, along with Austin Colletta and Jesse Buss from Honeoye.
The 4-H members of Ontario County who were selected to attend the New York State Fair in August are Katherine Rich and Sierra Lockwood of Canandaigua, Kaitlin Fisher of Springwater and Jessica Brown, Mary Boerjan and Carrie Sheppard of Clifton Springs.
Evaluators at the event were Sue Boerjan of Clifton Springs, Lucy Schram of Shortsville, Deanna Potter of Honeoye and Colleen Delaney of Bloomfield.
