The Grilled Italian
sliced Italian bread
Italian hot sausage patties
sliced provolone cheese
roasted red peppers or tomato slices
chopped fresh basil
Begin by frying up the sausage patty in a pan on the stove. Meanwhile, lay the bread slices on a cutting board. Arrange some of the sliced provolone cheese on the bread to make a toasted cheese sandwich. Top it off with more bread slices, then grill in olive oil in a saute pan over a medium high burner. When the sausage patty is cooked through, place it on paper towels to absorb the excess fat. When the toasted cheese sandwich is nicely browned on both sides, remove it to the cutting board and open it up. Place the cooked sausage patty on the melted cheese and top that with some of the roasted pepper slices or tomato and the basil. Close the sandwich up, cut it and serve it with some olives.
