FLCC HOSTS 59TH ANNUAL SPRING WOODSMEN'S COMPETITION
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 10, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College recently hosted the 59th annual Spring Woodsmen's Competition. FLCC's woodsmen team competed against athletes from 12 other colleges and universities in 19 events ranging from wood-chopping and sawing to fly-casting.

FLCC ANNOUNCES SUMMER HOURS
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 10, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College will operate on a modified summer schedule from May 30 - Aug. 5 to meet the needs of summer students and campus visitors. Operating hours for most offices will be Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.; however, some offices may be closed on Fridays. In addition, the College will be closed May 30 for Memorial Day and July 4 for Independence Day.
The following will be open on Fridays: the Admissions Office, the Bursar's Office, the Center for Advisement and Personal Development (including Career Services), the Child Care Center, the Financial Aid Office, Professional Studies and Continuing Education, the Registrar's Office, and the FLCC Geneva Center.
The following will be closed on Fridays: the Academic Support Center, the Campus Book Store, the Charles J. Meder Library, Student Health Services, the Student Life Office, and the FLCC Newark Center.
The Charles J. Meder Library will offer the following tentative schedule, with any changes to be posted at the Library:
May 23 - 27: open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., closed on weekends.
May 31 - Aug. 19: open Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.; closed Fridays and weekends.
Aug. 22 - 26: open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., closed weekends.
Regular Library hours resume Monday, Aug. 29: Monday - Thursday, 7:45 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Visitors are advised to call the Canandaigua campus at (585) 394-3500, the Geneva Center at (315) 789-6701, or the Newark Center at (315) 331-9098 in advance to verify office hours or to make appointments to meet with counselors during the summer months.
Beginning Aug. 8, the College will resume its normal schedule. Hours of operation will be Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

FLCC FACULTY MEMBER RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL AWARD
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 10, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College Professor of English Louise Mulvaney of Canandaigua recently received the Continued Excellence Award for Advisors at the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention in Grapevine, TX.
The Continued Excellence Award for Advisors recognizes advisors who have previously received the Robert Giles Distinguished Advisor Award, which Mulvaney received in 1988. The awards recognize the outstanding service in Phi Theta Kappa's hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. Mulvaney also received the Continued Excellence Award for Advisors in 2000 and 2003.
Mulvaney has taught at the College since 1979, and since 1986 has served as an advisor to Alpha Epsilon Chi, FLCC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. She has a master's degree in education from Siena College and a bachelor's degree in English from LeMoyne College.
By keeping Alpha Epsilon Chi active on the local, regional and international level, she has given students the opportunity to explore and enhance their skills in leadership, service, and fellowship. Mulvaney is known for her guidance, direction and support for Phi Theta Kappa. Since 1986 she has attended and accompanied students to Honors Institutes, International Conventions, Regional Conventions, and Regional Leadership Workshops. Additionally, she has organized and hosted conventions and Honors Institutes throughout New York.
This spring Alpha Epsilon Chi inducted their 3,000th member since its inception at FLCC.
Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, has recognized academic excellence since 1918. The Society is comprised of more than 1,200 chapters at community, technical, and junior colleges in all 50 states, Canada, Germany, and U.S. territories abroad. Nearly 500 chapters competed for the Society's most coveted awards.

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 12, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College's Finger Lakes Concert Band will host a concert entitled "Music for a Summer Night."
When: Saturday, June 11, 8 p.m.
Where: Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center, FLCC Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive
Admission: $3 donation at the door to benefit the Dr. A. John Walker Music Award for FLCC students
