Poem of the Week
|
RETIREMENT
By Ralph J. Adams
|
Today is warm and sunny,
What will I do today?
Will I trim around the house
And haul all the twigs away.
I could fix the latch on my shed,
Maybe weed out the flower bed.
Fix my faucet that has a leak,
Or put it off for another week.
I know the bathroom needs some paint
Molding needed on the kitchen floor.
My wife has a big long list for me,
But today my aching back is sore.
I will sit down on my chair,
With this list upon my lap.
Maybe close my eyes for a little while,
And take a little nap.
My how this day has gone by so fast,
And with my grief and sorrow,
I think I will just rest today,
And do those jobs tomorrow.
Now isn't retirement just great,
All I have to do is sit around.
And just procrastinate.
