FLCC TO HOST SUMMER BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 17, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College will host a boys summer basketball camp July 11-15 from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., on the Canandaigua Campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. The camp is for boys ages 10 to 14 and is designed to teach and drill campers in individual and team basketball fundamentals. Campers will be grouped based on age and ability with an emphasis on transferring the skills learned into game situations.
The camp instructors are FLCC Men's Basketball Coach, Richard Jones, FLCC Men's Assistant Basketball Coach, Jamie Farr, and Midlakes High School Freshman Coach, Josh Stewart along with the members of the FLCC Basketball Team. Jones led the 2004-2005 men's basketball team to a regular season conference championship, and has worked at and ran summer camps for more than 20 years. Working for 10 years at Duke University's basketball camp has helped Coach Jones develop his fundamental approach to teaching the game of basketball.
The cost of the camp is $125 per camper. To register, or for more information, contact Jones at (315) 462-7877.

FLCC FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS AT 21ST ANNUAL WIDMER'S HONORS RECEPTION
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 17, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College announced the recipients of more than 80 scholarships and awards at the 21st Annual Widmer's Honors Reception held recently at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua. Canandaigua Wine Company Inc. and the FLCC Foundation co-sponsored the event.
Foundation Board Chair Joanne M. Wisor, of Geneva, and FLCC President Daniel T. Hayes, Ph.D., presented the scholarships to full- and part-time students returning to FLCC in fall 2005 or transferring to four-year colleges and universities.
Wisor said, "This event is a wonderful way to bring the benefactors and students together so we can thank individuals, corporations, and organizations publicly for their generosity, as well as honor the talents and scholarship of our students."
Students apply for and are selected to receive the awards based on a variety of criteria relating to major, grade point average, and intended occupation. The awards range from $250 to the cost of one year's tuition.
