Open letter to tube Media:
I'm having' a problem: Seems anythin' rotten, despicable, etc., gits multiple plays on your newscasts. If a newspaper publishes an unfavorable photo of something from somewhere in the world y' show it until Larry King repeats look good! However:
From Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, t' Bath VA 'bout eight hundret people lined up t' play Taps in honor of war dead. It got a two by three line in the NY Times, less in other papers. D&C an' Elmira had a two-page spread. Saw nothin' on major Media outlets, yet played other stories repeatedly! A wiseacre GI in Abu Grahab took pictures of Saddam in his shorts. Started Saturday, still playin' Monday a.m. Does anyone care 'bout his shorts? Television ads show shorts on commercials! An eight year old girl was abducted, raped an' jammed in a dumpster, repeated three times in half hour period. Don't say channel surf because the same story feed is used by all!
A fav'rite is "atrocities" of American troops. Let them stray from some guru's moral design, it's broadcast over an' over until newscasters kin repeat it by rote, like a child's nursery rhyme. Oh, forgot, nursery rhymes ain't acceptable. Course rap lyrics are the "in" thing, featurin' abuse o' women, drug usage, etc.
Let's examine the volume of child abuse stories: Does anyone ever think maybe, it encourages these acts by showin' idiots how vulnerable or an easy mark kids are? No, don't think news editors are concerned about the newscast effects, does it sell commercial time? Newsweek broke a story about disrespect for the Koran, caused deaths in Muslim world while alienatin' the very people we're s'posed t' be helpin'. Quote from "unnamed" source?
Story 'bout Washington overflight showed people runnin' in the streets, while Bush was out cyclin'. Hadta git the real president outta the White House, won't go there. Does anyone in their right mind feel people were safer runnin' in the streets than stayin' in well constructed buildin's? Apparently not! There's nuclear option (?) of stoppin' filibusters in Senate, why is it nuclear. Our legislators have become self centered ignorin' common people's needs like medical coverage, jobs. Let companies bankrupt pension plans people were dependin' on in old age. At the same time do campaign trips in Air Force One at our expense t' change social security. Let special interests commercials dirty airwaves with their venom of hate directed at opines disagreein'. Stem cell research is bad, or is it. Is creationism or evolution reality. Doesn't anyone ever think creationism started the world, evolution caused it t' evolve? Maybe God had better things to do than make nuclear wars possible. Ever think of that?
There's been no news what good our troops doin' overseas. Or fact until Muslims should stop killin' each other, isn't that a problem also. Dang, forgot, American always wrong, feedin' an' s'portin' world economically isn't commendable. No, not 'nuff sed!
