DeSales Oratorical Contest
|
DeSales High School hosted the annual Oratorical Contest for students in Finger Lakes elementary Catholic schools on May 4th at 7p.m. There were two contests held simultaneously; one for Fifth and Sixth Grade students and one for Seventh and Eighth graders. This year's theme, chosen by St. Mary's School in Canandaigua is "How has Catholic education nurtured my belief in God, and helped me develop a commitment to God, the Church and the World"? This question involved the students reflecting upon their education and the need to reach out to others by sharing their time, talent and treasure. The judges awarded prizes to the winners at the end of the competition. We would like to congratulate the following winners.
For Grades 5 & 6
1st place - Tim Shaffer from St. Patrick's in Seneca Falls
2nd place - Reid Castner from St. Michael's in Penn Yann
3rd place - Ashtin Braman from St. Francis/St. Stephens in Geneva
For Grades 7 & 8
1st place - Shane Ruddy from St. Patrick's in Seneca Falls
2nd place - Emma Meiggs from St. Francis/St. Stephens in Geneva
3rd place - Claire Fritz from St. Mary's in Canandaigua
