Poem of the Week
|
FUTURE TO BE
By Ralph J. Adams
I held my little grand-son in my arms
He was so calmly fast asleep
Not a single thought of the future
In his little mind would creep.
Why did we make this world of strife
To pave this little creature's road of Life
I feel that our grown-up world is in complete disgrace
For all the burdens, this little boy will have to face.
I know we all blame our future on others in the past
And criticism of others we can always cast
We never think we are the ones who caused this load
We put all the pot-holes in his road.
I hope this little grand-son will see the need
Can start over and plant new seeds.
Hope he has the foresight and be blessed
To clean up our world of this horrible mess.
I know this little one alone cannot do
This world of children will be his crew
And let us pray these little ones can plainly see
So we can hand over the future to these new leaders to be.
