THOMPSON HEALTH WINS MARCH OF DIMES GRANT
|
CANANDAIGUA, NY- As part of the March of Dimes 2005 Community Initiative and Prematurity Campaign, Thompson Health is partnering with Ontario County Public Health Medicaid Obstetrical Maternal Services (MOMS) Program to increase public awareness of risk factors of premature labor and birth and implement the Clover Leaf Project.
The Clover Leaf Project will increase awareness of prematurity by educating not only the mother-to-be, but also her three necessary components of support: the father of the baby, her family/support systems and her community. The Clover Leaf Project will improve access to health insurance and increase awareness of the best possible perinatal health options to ensure that infants have every opportunity to begin a healthy life. Representatives from Thompson's Family Health & Education Department and Facilitated Enrollment Program will work with MOMS to increase expectant parents' access to prematurity education and health insurance enrollment.
March of Dimes Prematurity materials are being distributed to all Ontario County Pediatrician offices, clinics, schools and OB/GYN offices. In addition, Thompson Health will have a "Lending Library" at Finger Lakes Community Care Network (FLCCN), 3170 West Street, Suite 150, Canandaigua. To access this Library, please call Heidi Chrysler at (585) 396-6445.
For more information on The Clove Leaf Project, please contact Patti Knapp, RN, MS, in the Family Health & Education department at Thompson Health at 585-396-6497.
