POEM
By Ralph J. Adams
UNTALENTED
I try to fix little problems,
I find around the house
But I am a man with two left hands,
But, I will give it try anyway,
As you can plainly understand.
A lamp I would try to rewire,
A job anyone could do.
But I would blow a circuit,
Because I left out a little screw.
A simple toy I would try to assemble,
But I will never try to read the plans.
Because the instructions are so complex,
For this old man to understand.
I am not a mechanic.
As you can plainly see,
There must be something in this life,
That I could probably be.
I know God gave me little hands,
To use a different way for me.
To shake a hand or lift someone up,
Where ever the need may be.
There's something in a handshake
That's hard to explain.
But it is mighty like the sunshine,
That follows after the rain.
If I can give some lonely soul some hope,
And make them smile again…
For there is something in a handshake,
That's hard to explain.
I will not put myself down,
For I have that certain pride.
I know my hands will do the right thing,
As God will be my guide.
