Ontario County 4-Hers At State Fair


     Ontario County 4-H members recently exhibited their 4-H projects at the New York State Fair at Syracuse. Awarded blue ribbons in the area of Communication and Expressive Arts were Sarah Trimm of Manchester, Brittany Welch of Naples, Jennifer Iler, Maeve Hogan, Emilyn Kennedy, Sierra Lockwood of Canandaigua, Jeni Wilson of Seneca Castle, Alicia Stell of Newark, Ellen Patridge of Macedon, Ella Kikkert of Hall, Hannah Young, Jessica Brown and Mary Boerjan of Clifton Springs. Matthew Morrisey of Canandaigua received a red ribbon.
     In the area of Home Environment 4-Hers who received blue ribbons were Alicia Stell of Newark, Kate Keukelaar of Macedon, Katie Mason and Melissa Mason of Victor, Corinna Capron of Shortsville, Erika Orman, Courtney McBride and Julia Barnard of Hemlock, Olivia Lamphier of Middlesex, Mackenzie Hoven of Clifton Springs, Ryanne Rodness of Stanley and Courtney Piacente of Livonia. Receiving a red ribbon was Laura D'Amico of Clifton Springs.
     Fine Arts and Crafts exhibitors who received blue ribbons were Emilyn Kennedy, Jennifer Iler and Casey Cazer of Canandaigua, Thomas Kikkert of Hall, Allison Strub of Clifton Springs, Katie Mason of Victor, Mary Boerjan of Clifton Springs, Kathryn Lawson of Seneca Castle, Katie Sprague and Jordan Shearing of Naples, Brittany Welch of Naples and Nathaniel Lindley of Middlesex. Also exhibiting in this category and receiving recognition were Carrie Shepard and Jessica Brown of Clifton Springs, Erika Orman and Kaitlyn Fisher of Hemlock, Robert Lyons Jr. of Canandaigua and Kate Keukelaar of Macedon.
     In the area of Textiles and Clothing blue awards were received by Thomas Kikkert and Ella Kikkert of Hall, Jeni Wilson of Seneca Castle, Lesley Hogan of Victor, Julie Button of Stanley, Allison Rich of Canandaigua, Taylor Szczypinski of Waterloo and Maeve Hogan of Clifton Springs. Special recognition for Clothing and Textile Best of Show was received by Hannah Young of Clifton Springs for her wool suit. Red ribbons were received by Jennifer Iler and Nick Cazer of Canandiagua, Maeve Hogan of Clifton Springs, Jordan Kaisen of Victor, Sarah Trimm of Manchester, and Bobbi Smith of Rushville.
     Food and Nutrition exhibitors for Ontario County 4-H included Kathryn Lawson of Seneca Castle, Sarah Trimm of Manchester, Melissa Mason and Luke Shively of Victor, Maeve Hogan, Mary Boerjan and Jessica Brown of Clifton Springs and Brittany Welch of Naples. Alicia Stell of Newark received special Best of Show recognition for her Native American Applesauce Cornbread.
     In the area of Visual Arts Natashia Anderson of Rushville and Hannah Young of Clifton Springs received blue awards.
     4-H members who exhibited in the area of Horticulture were Erica Ruscio and Natashia Anderson of Rushville, Ethan Browning of Phelps and Kathryn Lawson of Seneca Castle. Ruscio and Browning received blue ribbons for vegetable and herb entries.
     Brian and Allison Rich of Canandaigua and Morgan and Aaron Hoven of Clifton Springs all received first place ribbons for their entries in Environmental Education.
     In the area of Science, Technology and Engineering the following received blue awards. Kenny Wyffels, Aryn Haney and Emma Meteyer of Geneva, Emily Strub, Aaron Hoven, Morgan Hoven and Shayne Wheeler of Clifton Springs, Robert Lyons and Ethan Kennedy of Canandaigua, Jeni Wilson of Seneca Castle and Rachel Adsitt of Phelps.
     4-H Cloverbud members ages 5-8 who exhibited at the State Fair for participation were Victoria Shively of Victor, Richard Lawson of Seneca Castle, Stephanie Smart, Sarah Alperti and Ben Alperti of Geneva, Samantha Wheeler of Clifton Springs, Audrey Button of Stanley, Rachel Snyder of Honeoye, Samantha Marshall of Bloomfield and Natalie Sacchitella of Springwater.
