A MESSAGE FROM NORM TEED
|
"In 1971 my wife Grace and I purchased our first home here in Phelps. I can honestly say that decision was one of the best choices we could have made. We knew from the start that this was where we wanted to live, work and raise our family. With your support I am confident that we can make Phelps a community in which our children and grandchildren can be proud of."
Norm Teed has committed his life to serving the community. For twenty years he has led the Town of Phelps Highway Department, managing its budget, staff, and projects.
After retiring from municipal service in 2002, Norm has once again expressed his desire to serve his community in elected office.
On September 12, 2005, Norm was honored to receive the Democratic Nomination for Town Supervisor. Although a lifelong Republican, Norm has always held to the belief that "The right thing to do is to vote for the person, not the party."
Looking to the future, Norm has stated his agenda very clearly. "I will be available to listen to the people, and will take their concerns seriously. I look forward to working with all our elected and appointed officials as well as providing strong representation for the Town of Phelps as their representative on the Ontario County Board of Supervisors."
Being the only candidate to attend the Ontario County Board of Supervisors September Meeting on the proposed sales tax redistribution, he has shown his concern over increased taxes and the effect on Phelps. When asked about the issues of taxes, Norm has made it clear that holding the line on taxes is a top priority, "A tax increase should only be considered after all other options have been evaluated. Local government and the services it provides should be a benefit, not a burden to the community. We need to operate efficiently and remember we exist to serve and represent Phelps."
" Norm was a Motor Equipment Operator for the Town of Phelps from 1873 to 1982.
" Norm was the Town of Phelps Highway Superintendent from 1982-2002.
" He has 20 years experience managing the Phelps Highway Budget.
" He is a former President of the Ontario County Highway Superintendents Association.
" He attended the annual Cornell University Local Highways Program during his tenure as Phelps Highway Superintendent for 20 consecutive years.
