FLCC NAMES NEW DEVELOPMENT OFFICER


     CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College recently appointed Amy I. Pauley, formerly of Moon Township, Pa., to the position of development officer. In her new position, Pauley will be responsible for fund-raising through the FLCC foundation.
     
     Prior to coming to FLCC, Pauley was the director of development for the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) Educational Foundation in Pittsburgh, Pa. where she was responsible for managing all fund-raising, marketing, special event activities, grant writing, and budget operations, among other duties. Prior to CCAC, Pauley was the development operations coordinator for The Watson Institute of Sewickley, Pa.
     
     Pauley earned a master's degree in business administration from Robert Morris College and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Smith College. She is a member of the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals.

FLCC PRESENTS FALL 2005 THEATRE PRODUCTION

nbsp;    CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2005) - For its annual fall theatre production, the Finger Lakes Community College Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents "Discoveries, Revelations and Confessions of Love; an evening of short comedies." The short comic scenes explore a variety of hilarious confessions, discoveries, and revelations of love.
     
     The production will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. and will continue on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 and 8 p.m. in the John P. Socha Pavilion on FLCC's Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. Tickets will be available at the door before the performances. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
      The cast of the production consists of the following FLCC students: Taylor Stevens Barth of Henrietta, Greg Waite of Clifton Springs, Amanda Foreman and Brianna Schnurr of Rochester, Ben Sheedy of Canandaigua, and Amy Smith of Newark.
     
     Beth Johnson PhD., assistant professor of theatre, will direct the production and Jim Perri, technical specialist in theatre, will design the production.

FLCC HOSTS COLLEGE PLANNING WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND JUNIORS

     CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College will host a free Parents College Workshop for parents of high school seniors and juniors. The event, entitled Demystifying the Financial Aid Process, will first take place Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the College's Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive. The workshop will be repeated Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. at FLCC's Geneva Center, 63 Pulteney St.
     
     FLCC financial aid professionals will walk participants through the process of applying for aid in a logical and easy-to-understand format. Attendees will learn about necessary forms, when to apply, information that needs to be included on an aid application, and how to explain special financial circumstances to a college.

FLCC OFFERS MEDITATION SEMINARS

     CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Oct. 18, 2005) - Finger Lakes Community College presents "Staying Alive, One Breath at a Time," meditation seminars led by Richard Hamling.
     
     Located on the first floor of the Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive, the seminars will be held at the Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 on the following dates:
     
     Wednesday, Nov. 2: 9 - 10 a.m., 1 - 2 p.m., and 7 - 8:30 p.m.
     Thursday, Nov. 3: 9 - 10 a.m. and 12:30 - 2 p.m.
     
     Hamling, of Canandaigua, is a member of FLCC's adjunct faculty in the social sciences department. He is a practicing psychotherapist in the Canandaigua and has previously led meditation seminars with the College.

FLCC TO HOST PROGRAM FOR ADULTS INTERESTED IN ATTENDING COLLEGE

     CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2005) - Are you interested in returning to college or attending for the first time? Come talk with FLCC counselors and other adults with the same idea at a free Adult Student Information Session at Finger Lakes Community College, 4355 Lakeshore Drive, Canandaigua, Room B-440, on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m.
     
     Admissions and financial aid counselors will be on hand to answer your questions and help you feel at ease about a new academic path. In addition, they will provide detailed information on the enrollment and financial aid processes and on the support services available to adult students, including tutoring and academic counseling.
