FLCC WILLIAMS-INSALACO GALLERY 34 PRESENTS "ETCHINGS"

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2005) - The Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 at Finger Lakes Community College presents an exhibition of prints, entitled "Etchings and Drawings," by James Skvarch of Syracuse.
Located on the first floor of the Canandaigua campus, 4355 Lakeshore Drive, the Gallery will host the exhibition Nov. 17, 2005 - Jan. 20, 2006. The opening reception will take place on Nov. 17 from 1-2 p.m. with a talk given by the artist.
According to Barron Naegel, gallery director and instructor of art, Skvarch's artwork "requires patience, planning, and hours of meticulous effort to create the final print. They are involved, intricate, and whimsical prints that have as much to do with art history as they do with his imagination."
Skvarch received a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Maryland Institute of Art and artist training from the International Academy for Art in Austria and the Rochester Institute of Technology. His work has been shown at the Rochester Finger Lakes Exhibition, the Shweinfurth Museum in Auburn, the Everson Museum at Syracuse University, and at galleries in Florida, Texas, and Virginia. He has won awards at the Silvermine Print Biennial, the Bradley University National Print Exhibition, the Finger Lakes Exhibition, and the Philadelphia Print Club International Competition, among many others. Collections featuring his work include the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery, the Cooperstown Museum of Art, the Munson Williams Proctor Institute, and the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery will be closed from Dec. 23 - 26 and Dec. 30 - Jan. 1. Admission is free and open to the public.
