Poem of the Week
|
By Ralph J. Adams OPEN OUR EYES
I see something in my mind
And try to put it into words that rhyme
To write it down on a pad for you
I hope in my little old humble way
I may bring you memories of your yesterday
Little things you ignored on your busy day
Precious moments that you have washed away
Take time and pause a minute or two
And look around at things in front of you
Look what you have probably never noticed,
What you previously ignored
This great world right in front of you,
All these little things your eyes can view
Life around you with it's great expanse
A weeping willow with it's leaves in dance
See that bird in the sky, a little leaf that flies by
Listen to the bird when he sings his little tune
Take a breath and give a sigh
And look up at that beautiful sky
And take in the stars and the yellow moon
Slow down and change your pace
Our lives in such a terrible race
This little poem, I try to relate in this verse
What we foolishly missed on this earth.
