Kenneth Bruce Burgett
PHELPS - Kenneth Bruce Burgett, 68, of 11 Mary St., died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 at his home.
There were no prior calling hours. Friends attended a memorial service on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Ken was born Aug. 25, 1937, in Newark, the son of the late Lester and Florence Covel Burgett. He was retired from Kodak. He was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union UA Local 13. Ken was a Navy veteran and member of the Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion Post 457. He was a very talented craftsman working with wood.
Memorial donations may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St, Clifton Springs 14432.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Barbara) Burgett Jr. of Austin, Texas; his granddaughter, Abigail Burgett; sister, Joanne (Richard) Oakleaf of Palmyra; brother, Donald (Joan) Burgett of Ithaca; brother-in-law, Frank Lee of Clyde; and special friend, Elaine Kibble.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine.
Randall S. Bedette
PHELPS - Randall S. Bedette, 40, of 31 William St., died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 6, 2006.
Friends called Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 10 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in Orleans Cemetery.
It is suggested that memorial donations be directed to the family, care of Todd Harrington, 15 Mary St., Phelps 14532.
Randy was born Aug. 18, 1965, in Newark, the son of Robert Bedette and Patricia Duel. Randy was a selfless, hardworking independent contractor. He was a generous person who always gave and never took. Most of all, Randy was a devoted father to his sons. He was very proud of them, and thy always came first. They were his life.
He is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Shauna Morrow) Bedette and Joshua Bedette, both of Phelps; wife, Suzanne Bedette of Clifton Springs; his parents, Patricia (Donald) Wagner of Phelps; brothers and sisters, Karen (Todd Peffenberger) Galens of Geneva, Robert (Gail) Bedette of Phelps, Clarence Wagner of Farmington, Donald (Dawn) Wagner Jr. of Canandaigua, Bruce (Georgia) Wagner of Canandaigua, Betty (Rodney) Briggs of Canandaigua; special cousin, Todd (Kristin) Harrington of Phelps; close friend, Pamela Parker; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Howard Dwight Hickok
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Howard Hickok, 95, of County Road 27, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at Clifton Springs Hospital with his loving family by his side.
In keeping with his wishes, there were no prior calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate Howard's life will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Clifton Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Clifton Springs Baptist Church in Howard's memory.
Howard was born Feb. 6, 1910, in Stanley, the son of the late Arthur R. and Katheryn Hickok, and had lived in the area all of his life. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Howard was retired after 30 years of service at the Newark Developmental Center, where he was a mechanic.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Wheaton Hickok; son, Howard Wayne Hickok of Clifton Springs; niece, Marian Waldron of Ocala, Fla.; and nephew, James Lewis of Waterloo.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Olive Lewis and Doris Fulton.
Thomas "Mouse" VanDeMortel
PHELPS - Thomas "Mouse" VanDeMortel, 60, of 19 Church St., died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Feb. 6 in St. Felix Church, in Clifton Springs, with the Rev. Mark Brewer presiding. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Thomas was born March 11, 1945, in Clifton Springs, the son of the late Herman and Veronica (Mary) Herbert VanDeMortel. He really enjoyed classic cars and being an amateur artist.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Darleen) VanDeMortel of Phelps, and Russell William VanDeMortel of Clifton Springs; daughter, Catherine (Jim) Snow of Phelps; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Logan Snow and Erik, Tanner and Russell II VanDeMortel.
Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, David.
Daniel J. Webb
PHELPS - Daniel J. Webb, 46, of 12 Pleasant St., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at his home, with his family by his side.
Friends called Monday, Feb. 6 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Phelps.
It is suggested that memorial donations be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva 14456.
Dan was born Sept. 17, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Joe Webb and Linda Main Burns. Dan was an active member of the New York State Muzzle loaders Association. He taught his daughters how to load and shoot a muzzle loader and was very proud of their accomplishments. Dan was an avid bowler and belonged to the H.E.P. Sales bowling team at Roseland Bowl. He was a true nature lover, and loved being outdoors and hunting and fishing. Dan cherished his time in the woods with the "Lannon Club", spending many special times hunting, fishing and camping, but above all else the most important thing in Dan's life was his three girls.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Karen Webb; their two daughters, Holly (fiancé Steven Orlopp) and Heidi Webb; mother, Linda Burns of Clifton Springs, father, Joe (Pat) Webb of Abilene, Texas; sisters and brothers, Kathy (Robert) Bezzek of Phelps, Donnie (Matt) Strub of Clifton Springs, David (Debbie) Webb of SanAntonio, Texas, Carla (Tim) Murrin of Sherman, Texas, Susan Webb of Austin, Texas; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his adoring Lab, Sable.
Everett G. "Toby" Young
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Everett G. "Toby" Young, 83, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic.
Friends called Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Cheney Funeral home in Phelps. Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 8 in the Oaks Corners Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ellen Carroll officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Everett was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Phelps, the son of the late Clarence and Helen Travis Young. He worked as a payload operator for over 29 years, for the General Crushed Stone in Oaks Corners. He was a member of the Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion Post 457, a life member of the V.F.W. in Newark, the Waterloo Moose Lodge, the Saturday Night Mixed Bowling League and the Sunday I.O.O.B. League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and country/western music.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
He is survived by his daughters, Helen Bowman of California, MaryAnn (Ronald) Reeves of Alabama, MaryJane (Charles Sr.) Ostrowski of Clyde and Betty (Robert) Anderson of Clifton Springs; loving companion of 17 years, Ann Amadio of Clifton Springs; brothers and sisters, Roger Young of Kentucky, Loretta (Robert) Young of Phelps, Nellie Campbell of Clifton Springs, Ames (Pauline) Young of Newark and Alithea Fillingham of Geneva; grandchildren, Tammy (John) White of Phelps, Gloria and Charles Ostrowski Jr. of Geneva, Kendra Cobb, Cody Ledbetter and Traci Reeves all of Alabama; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel M. Young in 1988; three grandchildren; three brothers and six sisters.
