Channel surfin' durin' Super bowl and I saw where Bill O'Reilly was doin' the Wolf Blizer three-hour thing. Wolf ain't worth it, Bill's so called tornado type no spin zone is worse. Until he tol' 'bout L.A. Times columnist Joel Stein writin' an article accusin' our troops of bein' immoral. Don't know who Stein answers to, but seems his editorial bosses would've edited the article out of the paper. Free speech is good, decency should be prime thrust of editors.
There's a problem with columnists takin' varyin' viewpoints in poor taste. How many parents whose kids were killed in Iraq read his article? What do they think 'bout their child bein' labeled immoral? Do columnists care? Many columnists have been educated in a liberal type atmosphere. Many haven't done hard work in their life. Does it matter these soldiers came from their writin' locality? Writers an' columnists still git their pay checks without censure from the publisher. They must accept part of the blame fer insensitive articles. Many soldiers victims of Hard Knock College, military was the way out!
O'Reilly noted Stein suggested soldiers should refuse combat orders. This is asinine. That act is treasonable! Soldier can be court martialed, shot or jailed for life! Like Abu Grahab, hierarchy determines who suffers. Does he consider Israeli soldiers immoral, or Hamas? Take yer choice on that'n. Muslims don't consider suicide bombers immoral, do they? By definition, morality is a judgment call which Stein, an' others are incapable of judgin'.
Allow me for a moment to judge Stein's character. His name indicates he may be Jewish, educated in liberal institutions which ignores life's common ideas, like money ends meet. His parents probably protected him from hardships of life. Sound familiar? Prob'ly thinks hand calluses a form of skin cancer, like O'Reilly, Limbaugh, others.
A dangerous editorial freedom was the caricature of Mohammed in a Danish newspaper. Muslims are outraged, but watchin' protests they were orchestrated usin' school kids, with professionally made banners. Violence occurin' aginst Western facilities was accepted by their govmint leaders. Biggest danger is Muslims don't agree with freedom of the press, unless it validates their propaganda. Can you imagine the effect in the United States if someone protested caricature of Billy Graham, Pope John, or some other religious leader? There would be letters to editors, etc., but street demonstrations? Can't git most Christians t' church on Sunday, much less durin' the week. Muslim protests show poor economics in region. When leaders can generate thousands of protestors in streets it doesn't say much fer commerce, does it?
O'Reilly announced he's gonna have "common" people on his program. Can't one imagine scenario where he interrupts a guest, only t' be tol' t' shut up till they're done. Wont' work. Like Limbaugh's show, dissenters are shunted aside or cut off. So much fer free speech, right?
Must say "nuff sed", since freedom of our press has produced the death of decency. That's a shame!
