Mary K. Kester
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Mary K. Kester, 88, formerly of Fifth Street in Corning, more recently of the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
Family and friends called Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Haughey Funeral Home in Corning. A prayer service was offered Friday, Feb. 24 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Prayers at St. Mary's Church in Corning. Interment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Ave., Corning 14830; Wayne County Nursing Home, 1529 Nye Road, Lyons 14489; or to the charity of one's choice.
Mary was a lifetime resident of Corning and retired school nurse teacher of the Corning Painted Post School District and many other schools. Mary and John "Jack" Kester were married Nov. 9, 1946, in St. Mary's Church in Corning. He predeceased her March 14, 1995.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Derry Jackson of Palmyra; grandson, Jeremiah Jackson (fiancée Melanie Segros); granddaughter, Kate Jackson (Nate Bernardi); brother, Robert (Mary Jane) Krebs of Corning; sister-in-law, Jean Krebs; brothers-in-law, Raymond Manning and Tom Kester, all of Corning; and several nieces and nephews.
