Poem of the Week
|
By Ralph J. Adams REMINISCING
I sometimes in my mind try to recollect
Putting my past into retrospect
Of childhood days and childhood feats,
Like playing baseball out on the street.
And Kick the Can and Hide and Seek.
Flying kites in the sky high above,
And childhood girlfriends and puppy love.
Basketball and Baseball was our sport,
Tennis was played on the local courts.
If a friend you wanted to seek,
They were probably sipping a soda,
At the Candy Kitchen we called the Greeks.
Sometimes a little tear will come to my eye,
When I think of the dances at the Y.
Student nurses we would date,
And go to Geneva to roller skate,
My how the past was so dear,
Those were our precious Golden Years.
These memories will be in my heart to stay,
Of friends of the past who have gone away.
I'll tell my children what has been,
Of those wonderful years way back when.
