MARCH 17, 2006
Coach Maher has released the roster for the varsity baseball team. It has mostly juniors and seniors, as expected. One sophomore, Matt Jensen, will play in the outfield and do some pitching. Other outfielders are: seniors Jesse DeBoover; Torey Pieters, who also will pitch; Jordan Wilson, who will also pitch; juniors Bryant Lead, also a pitcher, and Greg VanderBrook. Playing the infield will be seniors Craig Falkey, Randy Kuhlman, and Zach Maslyn, and Mark DeCook, who will also pitch; and juniors Tommy Goodman, Adam Norsen, Chris Galliher, and Neil Scheible, also a pitcher. Brett Adams will catch.
Coach Young, fresh from the basketball court, has released the jv baseball roster. Josh DeBoover, Ethan Thornton, Tyler Turner, Colin Hotchkiss, Elijah Guilliame, Josh Guilliame, Andrew Hilfiker, Kodey Clark, and Tristen Ester will play the outfield. Infielders are Jake Clyde, Andrew Griffee, Justin Buttaccio, Travis Goodman and Kyle Tillman. Eric Minns is set to catch and to do some pitching. Also scheduled to pitch are Kyle Tillman, Tristen Ester, and Jake Clyde. Eric Minns is listed as a catcher and a pitcher, and Kyle Consolie as a pitcher/utility fielder.
These two teams are scheduled to begin play on April 6, when the varsity team will travel to Waterloo and their jv team will come here. The game should start at 4:15.
The varsity will travel to Mynderse on April 12, with the jv playing at home. The varsity home opener is scheduled for April 13, against Pal Mac. They will be leaving for Durham, North Carolina on April 16 (Easter) where they hope to play four games before returning on Friday.
Coach Jeff Panek will be working with the modified baseball team when their practices begin next month.
I have been unable to get end-of-season information from the wrestling teams or to catch up with the other spring sports coaches. Maybe next week.
