Here's two er three items, brief like:
Oldsters thinkin' of sellin' out an' movin' t' Floridy better think a'gin. Floridy's got problems as mentioned afore. Top items are the cost of housing' 'n taxes. St. Petersburg Times, best paper there, had an article 'bout middle class people bein' priced outta housin'. It's true. Lessen yer got half a million bucks yer not gonna git comparable housin'. Prices start at a thou an' a half, which might gitcher a one bed/bath unit, in poor shape. Double-wides're bringin' fifty grand, on yer own property, double that. Open space is at a premium, ever' acre lot bein' rezoned by cooperative politicians t' build twelve hundret feet of concrete livin' space, half garage! Counties gettin' windfall of higher taxes on these properties. Fifty-five communities nice, but lot rent is pret near what taxes are. Shoestring money ain't gonna do it! Polytics ain't much different, lotta noise fer no result. Wages're a problem cuz what housin' one can afford takes most o' the paycheck. Traffic's a hard problem, seems no matter how many four-lanes they build, need six the next mornin'.
Hillary's down there, raisin' money fer her campaign. Oughter be a law where candidates git money from their home state. Notice she's gittin' blistered by Rove's political machine early! He's picked Jeb an' Condelessa fer '08. Other's losers since they're afraid of bein' called "unpatriotic" by Republican colleagues. Ever git the feelin' we need a third party?
Fourteen year old Horseheads girl met a boy from Virginny on the Internet, went t' a motel with him. Happens often nowadays, ends up police find 'em, or worse, the girl gits hurt. There was an expose on the tube where reporters conned perverts an' interviewed 'em. All had excuses, won't go there. However:
Young boys an' old men ain't changed. Interent's become 'nohther way t' find girls. Usta be local like, boys'd date younger high school girls. Girl might run away with someone, come home with a problem. Shotgun may've been employed t' straighten out the mess. Won't go there either.
Hippie revolution along with Media honchos started morality changes where fathers could leave town t' avoid payin' the freight. T'day many under-aged females raisin' kids alone. It's because morality an' decency went out the door of fambly life. Parent's raisin' kids decades ago watched fer these problems, instructed daughter's "not t' go near the water when there's clothes on the hickory limb" (an old folk song!). Modern parents have lost common sense 'bout dangers t' young kids! M' father taught me parentin' was a dictatorship: obey, git whomped, or leave!
Here's the deal parents: Liberalism is fine, decency an' discipline are better. You're responsible fer kids maturin'! Trustin' their usage without bein' observant is endangerin' 'em as much as drug problems or whatever! Not nuff sed on this'n, since many parents believe y' hafta be yer child's friend. Better if yer a cop!

Article #2

Those thinkin' Floridy is the place they oughter be, better check housin' costs, they'll be shocked at what they see.
S'pose a developer bought Woodbury an' Spa Apartments, throw in Maxwell. They change the names t' "condos" an' residents have thirty days t' sign leases at higher rents or be evicted. "Condos" fer sale start at 100 thou for a thousand square foot apartment, plus assessments. Rentals run 'bout a grand a month! How many people could remain, or even rent if employed at the hospital or Lisk! Wage level'd make it impossible to live here. That's what's happenin' throughout Floridy t' day. Orlando apartments bein' converted t' condos. Developers buyin' low income housin' areas fer same reason. Where would help live workin' at hospital? They'd be bussed from Utica or Cortland where rents were lower, but jobs warn't. Housin's so expensive service workers workin' the Keys are bein' bussed in from Miami! A two-hour ride fer a minimum wage job? Home prices outta reach fer many retirees. Villages management'll send yer a tape, but chances are most cain't afford the concrete pill box homes at coupla hundret thou apiece.
Some leaders wonderin' how help will pay fer increased housin' rents Legislative leaders tch tch, but lobbyists take 'em out fer a short beer, more conversions, higher prices. Trailer park buyouts force occupants out. Many been there fer years, movin' ain't good option. Cain't move old trailers, many don't have the money fer new ones. These are oldsters who retired years ago. Developers don't care, politicians sop up campaign funds.
People who bought in Floridy years ago makin' a bundle sellin' their homes, movin' back inta the Carolinas. Retirees on social security, even with a good pension'll have a tough time makin' ends meet. The increased population raisin' cain with orange groves bein' sold, road crews destroyin' decades-old trees. It's become an environmental tragedy, fueled by money, naturally.
Might think critical of Floridy economics. Not really. Reality is Floridy sun shaded by greenback dollars developers askin' fer condos, housin' an' services. Economics dependent upon snowbirds seasonal migrations comin' here with open wallets. Gratitude from natives is often non existent, complainin' 'bout road traffic problems bein' paid fer by snowbird taxes! If yer thinkin' of retirin' t' Floridy suggest asset check. Lessen y' have half a mil an' a CEO or govmint pension y' ain't gonna make it.
Hafta explain Demmycrat party rigor mortis statement: They've cowered before Bush administration afraid of bein' tabbed unpatriotic, non-partisan, etc. McCain demonized by Rove/Card machine is kissy pooin' Bush's actions, ignorin' issue of illegal immigration in his state. Republicans deny opposition viewpoints, usin' majority t' overcome complaints. Demmycrats fear they'll be denied a share of porkie stuff, so keep their mouth shut, bow and scrape while makin' noises.
Final point: Isn't our Congress jes like our state legislature. That's why rigor mortis has set in, across whole govmint! Never 'nuff sed!
