THE PLANT MAN
Reader Needs Help With Forlorn Lawn
QUESTION: "My husband and I ripped up our yard a year ago, put in a sprinkler system and put down sod. It looked great for a few months and then in August we went away for a week and didn't water the grass. When we returned, our yard looked fried. I must say that we were not the most diligent about watering except for the first month or so after putting the sod down...[Read full story]

Designing Dilemmas February 2006
Undaunted by Vaulted Ceilings
Dear Debbie: My master bedroom is rectangular with a vaulted ceiling, about 18 feet high on the high end. A door opens up to the master bathroom and another door to a walk-in closet on the high wall. A six foot wide window is on the opposite low wall. I have a four poster cherry Shaker bed and matching furniture. The room's architecture is contemporary. I would like color in the room, but don't know how to paint it without feeling like I'm in a dark cave, especially at the end of the room with the high wall. Judi

Annual Spring Smorgasbord at Clifton Springs Baptist Church
There was a wonderful turnout for the Spring Smorgasbord at the Clifton Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, April 1st. While it may have been April Fools Day, there was no fooling the crowd about the great selection of foods offered. The meal included chicken and biscuits, Swedish meatballs, sliced ham with raison sauce, corn casserole, beets, carrots, mashed potatoes, and much more, with many choices of homemade cakes and pies for dessert. Although many talked of wanting to shed a few pounds, there was no effort made to do it that night! People ate long and well, and took the opportunity to renew old acquaintances, talk to new friends, and visit with old ones...[Read full story]

The Clifton Springs Baptist Church held an Easter egg hunt following the worship service on Easter Sunday for children ages 9 and under. Great fun was had by all the children, and some of the adults, as well. Treats following the service included a little bit of candy, as well as muffins and some more health-conscious treats. Coffee, hot chocolate, and juices were available, as is normal for the coffee/fellowship time after church services.
