Annual Spring Smorgasbord at Clifton Springs Baptist Church

There was a wonderful turnout for the Spring Smorgasbord at the Clifton Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, April 1st. While it may have been April Fools Day, there was no fooling the crowd about the great selection of foods offered. The meal included chicken and biscuits, Swedish meatballs, sliced ham with raison sauce, corn casserole, beets, carrots, mashed potatoes, and much more, with many choices of homemade cakes and pies for dessert. Although many talked of wanting to shed a few pounds, there was no effort made to do it that night! People ate long and well, and took the opportunity to renew old acquaintances, talk to new friends, and visit with old ones.
Some of the volunteers had a long day, starting in the early morning with cooking and preparing the food and room. A great many youth assisted in the dining room, under adult supervision, and about 15 more adults worked in the kitchen keeping the food fresh and the dishes washed. The dinner was a great success for the American Baptist Women's group.
