Chamber of Commerce Holds Annual Banquet
|
About 35 people attended the Clifton Springs Chamber of Commerce annual banquet in the 2nd floor banquet room at Warfield's Restaurant and Bakery Wednesday evening April 26th. Following the dinner, chamber president Mike Fullerton spoke about the 2o yr. History of the chamber and it's many accomplishments. Clifton Springs mayor Bill Hunter was then introduced. Mr. Hunter spoke, in particular, of the contributions made to the Clifton Springs community by Ovid Randall, after which he presented him with a key to the Village of Clifton Springs in recognition of those contributions. Mike Fullterton took the podium again and awarded Ovid the Chamber's Founder's Award, presented in honor of the C.S. Chamber of Commerce founder, Bob Bowdren, who was in attendance.
Mr. Randall thanked the mayor, the chamber, and those attending the banquet. After introducing a large number of family members, and employees who were present, he talked about the pleasure he had taken in the years he'd given in service to the community. He also acknowledged and thanked his family, employees, and friends for the effort and support they'd given him throughout these years of service.
Following Ovid's remarks, Mr. Fullerton invited Ovid "Randy" Randall Jr. to the podium. Randy mixed high praise for his father with humorous anecdotes about the years in which his father had helped to make improvements in this community. When Randy finished, Mike Fullerton asked if anyone else wished to comment. To the surprise and delight of the assembly, Ovid's granddaughter, Sierra Braden joined in the fun and made some joking remarks about both her grandfather and her grandmother, Bobbie, concluding the evening on a humorous note.
Ovid joins a very special group of people who have been awarded the Founder's Award in past years, including Fred Gifford, Rev. Albert and Catherine Kamm, Rev. Lynn Spence, Sgt. Steve LeRoy, Mayor Bill Hunter and Mrs. Doris Hunter.
