John G. Dunning

      CLIFTON SPRINGS - John G. Dunning, 89, passed away peacefully Friday, April 21, 2006 at Clifton Springs Hospital Extended Care.
      In keeping with his wishes, there were no calling hours. Friends were invited to attend a gathering to celebrate John's life at noon Tuesday, April 25 at the home of Ray Dunning, 2333 Melvin Hill Road in Phelps. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Melvin Hill Cemetery.
      Friends may contribute to the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home Activity Fund, c/o Clifton Springs Hospital, 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs 14432, in John's memory.
      John was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Sayre Pa., the son of the late John and Pauline Dunning. He served his country with the Army during World War II. John loved music, spending several years teaching music and leading the Marching Band for Clifton Springs Central School. He played in the Parsians Dance Band for many years. John was also a pilot and loved to golf. He was a member of the Newark Baptist Church, the Lions Club of Newark, the Masonic Lodge, and former member of the Clifton Springs Country Club.
      John is survived by his loving wife, Doris; son, Ray (Nancy) Dunning of Phelps; daughter, Trina (John) Kardys of Newark; grandchildren, Deanna and Brent Cameron, Angela Kardys and Ian Kardys; and sister, Juanita West.
      He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
      Funeral arrangements were by Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.


Angela M. Mittiga

      CLIFTON SPRINGS/NEWARK - Angela A. Mittiga, 98, died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
      Friends called Sunday, April 30 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home in Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Peter Clifford Monday, May 1 at St. Michael Church, Newark. Burial was Tuesday, May 2 in Calvary Cemetery, Massena, St. Lawrence County.
      Memorials may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432.
      Ms. Mittiga was born Sept. 24, 1907, in Plati, Italy, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Morabito Mittiga Sr. Angela lived most of her life in Massena before moving to the Clifton Springs area several years ago to live with her niece Rosemary Strub. She had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a baker and cook for the Royal Restaurant in Massena.
      She is survived by her niece, Rosemary (William) Strub of Clifton Springs; a brother-in-law, Vince Higgins of Canandaigua; sister-in-law, Margaret Mittiga of Massena; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
      She was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Higgins, Dominic "Mike" Mittiga who died in World War II, Joseph Mittiga Jr., Ross Mittiga, Rose Mittiga, and infant Anthony Mittiga.
