TOWN OF MANCHESTER RECEIVES FUNDS FROM USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT FOR WATER PROJECT
|
SYRACUSE, N.Y., April 27, 2006 -- USDA Rural Development announces the approval a $1,453,000 loan and $350,000 grant to the Town of Manchester. Rural Development funds will be used to construct a water main to the Central Water District and supply public water to over 100 households. Area residents currently depend on individual wells that yield insufficient quantities of variable quality water.
"These funds are necessary to provide good, safe drinking water to the people of the Town of Manchester," said Rep. Kuhl. "Having Rural Development come in to help with the burden is welcome relief to Manchester taxpayers."
"A reliable supply of good drinking water is frequently taken for granted by those who have it. For those who do not, it is a blessing," said Scott R. Collins, Acting State Director for USDA Rural Development in New York. "I am pleased that USDA Rural Development is able to provide funding to the Town of Manchester to extend affordable water service to 131 households."
USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents.
