An exciting "Afternoon at the Opera" was performed in the Midlakes Auditorium on April 23, at 4 P.M. The performance was with Victoria Atwater and Bruce Reed Jr, for the benefit of the House of John in memory of Bruce Reed Sr., who passed away last year.

A beautiful program was prepared by Victoria and Bruce with a fine selection of operatic, sacred songs, show and Broadway tunes. An audience of nearly 1000 listening ears listened to these two blended voices which permeate
      the auditorium walls
Victoria Atwater known for her gleaming soprano and dazzling coloratura, has performed as Gilda in Rigoletto, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Norma in Don Pasquale, Adina in L'Elisir d' Admore, and many more operatic leads. She is a native of Elkhart, Indiana and holds a Master and Bachelor of Music Degrees in Voice Performance from the University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. Miss Atwater is a Regional Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Competition and currently makes her home in South Orange, New Jersey with her husband, tenor Bruce Reed and daughter of 17 months Vivian Rose.
Bruce Reed is known for his mellifluous voice and poetic style, and is increasingly performing more of the fuller lyric tenor roles. During the past seasons, Bruce has added to his repertoire such roles as Ashenbach/Hotel Porter in Britten's Death in Venice, Nick in Fanciulla del West, Tiberge in Massenet's rarely-performed Le Portrait de Mason and many other roles
Previously, Bruce was a mainstay with the New York City Opera Company for nine seasons (following his debut with New York City Opera as Camille de Rosillon opposite Beverly Sills in The Merry Widow). In concert, Bruce has appeared as soloist with the Buffalo, Rochester, Evansville, Florida and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestras; with the Syracuse, Mississippi Monterey, and Savannah Symphonies, and many other musical accomplishments to
numerous to list. Bruce currently is making his home in South Orange, New Jersey with his wife, soprano Victoria Atwater and his daughter, 17 month old Vivian Rose. Bruce is a native of our Clifton Springs, New York and completed his opera training at the acclaimed Tri-City Opera in Binghamton, New York, where he performed numerous leading tenor roles.
I cannot forget to mention the wonderful accomplished pianist who accompanied Bruce and Victoria, I do not have all the write-up on her, but I know she has many awards in her field. She presently is with the Finger Lakes Chorale. She is Ines Draskonic..
Thank you again, Bruce, Victoria and Inez for the wonderful concert to
enlighten our lives in Clifton Springs and for the dedication and contribution
to the House of John. Welcome back to Clifton Springs. We love you all.
