AMAZING COINCIDENCE By Bob Bowdren
|
Joseph Carver (the Seventh) was in the Army in World War I stationed in England. There, he met a young lady, and on their third date, they married. Following the wedding Joe was ordered back to base. They were informed that the war was over. They were locked down on base and not allowed to leave.
It took a year for Joe to get his new wife to America.
One generation later, Joseph H. Carver (the Eighth) joined the Canadian Air Force Cadet program. He met a young lady in Toronto and on their third date they were married.
On December 7th, 1941 the U.S. joined WWII and the rumor was that any Americans in the Canadian Cadet program (200) had to return to the U.S. or they would lose their citizenship. Needless to say, they scurried back home to the U.S. Army Air Corps.
It took Joe Carver (the eighth) two years to get his new bride to America. Unlike the first World War couple (where citizenship was automatic), Lynn Carver had to go through the extensive naturalization process to get her U. S. citizenship.
