A Thought For Mother's Day and Beyond
|
Mother's Day is upon us again. Those of us who are very lucky have our mothers with us still, and can take this opportunity to express our love and gratitude to them on their very special day. This applies just as well to Father's Day, and Grandparents Day, but since it's May, we'll talk about Mother's Day. You may have an aunt, a friend and neighbor, or even just an acquaintance who's children are gone, or far away. There are even a few who, for whatever reason, don't have a close enough relationship with their children to receive recognition on Mother's Day. It could mean so much if you took the time to show these women just how much you think of them. Maybe you could get them a card or a small plant. If possible, you could have them over for dinner, or take one to them. Believe me, it will be appreciated. And don't forget your spouce's mother…you have a lot to be thankful to her for, as well.
My mother is gone, now. It makes me a little sad to realize I can't get her a card, or call her to say Happy Mother's Day. But our relationship was wonderful. We were very close, so I still feel that appreciation for her, and for others who have been such wonderful mothers. I have a friend here at our apartments who's children live a long way away, and I'm going to be sure that she has a special day. I enjoy her company so very much, and can talk to her just like I did my mother. I want her to know that I appreciate that. If you know of someone you could make the day more special for, please do it. The rewards for thoughtfulness are many. And if it were you, wouldn't you like to know that someone thought you were special too?
