Poem of the Week

Ralph J. Adams

I like to take my morning walk
In the fresh morning air,
To see the morning sun come up,
To clear my mind of cares.

The early morning sky with hues,
Yellows and orange mixed with the blues,
This artistry of God's great hand,
Created this beauty in our wonderful land.

Listen to the early morning sounds
While you walk the streets of our little town,
So many wonderful sounds to be heard,
Of rustling leaves and singing birds.

Take your walk if for no other reason,
Just to see the little changes of our seasons.
Look with your eyes at every little thing,
The changes of winter to the coming of spring.

God created all this beauty for our eyes to see,
So take in all his wonderful artistry,
And with your ears, listen for sounds,
Of music that was created by nature,
As you take your walk, in our little town.

Beauty Everywhere
Ralph J. Adams

I love the early morning sun,
Fresh budding flowers with dewdrops in their eyes.
The fresh smell of a budding rose.
Fluffy white clouds against an azure blue sky.

I love to plant each tiny seed,
In my flowering pot or plot of land.
I love te feel the fresh brown earth
In my open, hopeful hand.
There is that wonderful marvel of planting things,
It is the touch and warmth of our Spring.

Each little seed holds such a wonderful mystery
Those little hard shells in my hand
Will turn out to be flowers for our naked eyes to see.
So if I plant them, which is in my power.
With God's great help, they will turn out to be
A wonderful, beautiful perfect flower.

But also a wonderful weed of beauty
Across a blanket of green so fine,
Is the golden, bright yellow of the weed,
They call the dandelion.
So look around you each day, and be aware.
No matter where you are, there is beauty everywhere.

Be An Optimist
Greenville Kleiser

Be an optimistic optimist
No matter houw you feel:
If doubt or gloom assails you,
Work on with greater zeal.

Think always of the sunshine
Behind the lowering sky:
You can rise above depression,
If kyou let ill thoughts go by.

The pessimistic pessimist
Sits complaining all the while,
Unhappily he does not know
The face value of a smile.

What you think within your heart
Will shape your life each day:
The antidote for worry
Is to smile dull care away.

It is better to be pleasant
Than to wear a frowning face;
All good things work together
To promote a happy race.

Be an optimistic optimist,
Ignore depressing things;
The man that wins life's prizes
Is the man who smiles and sings.
