PHIL LOSSIFER Medicare Part D as writ 'bout afore, is a problem fer seniors, especially when they've reached first level drug costs. Which by the way is at total cost of the prescription, not co-pay amount. Dint' know that. Seniors hafta pay full price up t' fifty one hundred total, then govmint picks up most of it. Here's the problem, 'cording' t' "Doc Pilltile." Most prescriptions are quite expensive, so's first level is reached real quick like fer seniors with multiple scripts fer cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. However, many cain't afford full price so's they'll go without the medications since it becomes choice twixt food, rent or drugs. Meanin' it'll take longer t' reach the next level. Another problem is formulary drugs. Many third party plans have developed drugs they won't pay fer, so's patients hafta pay the full shot, which don't count toward the higher total...[Read full story]

FINGER LAKES HEALTH HOSTS SUMMER WORK EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATORS
Finger Lakes Health, in partnership with the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board, hosted 20 teachers and guidance counselors on August 8 as part of the Summer Work Experience Program for Educators. A two-week experience, educators from 12 school districts spent a week on the job at a variety of businesses in the Finger Lakes region and another week visiting firms to gain an understanding of the business environment and the various career ladders in this area. At the end of the program, educators had a better understanding of jobs and business in the Finger Lakes and will be able to bring their experience back to their students in the classroom. At Finger Lakes Health, Seneca Falls high school biology teacher Laurie Asermily, spent 30 hours in the Geneva General Hospital laboratory observing all aspects of the work performed there...[Read full story]
